 Facebook Group Rules & Helpful Info

Our Facebook group has a few guidelines in place to help make it an enjoyable place to participate. In keeping with “let’s keep this fun”, the guidelines are broad and are not all-encompassing. Posts that don’t meet these guidelines or that detract from our purpose may be deleted. Final interpretation will be left to the discretion of the group administrators.

  • Be nice.

  • Spam and solicitations of any kind will be deleted.

  • Please keep posts age appropriate. Do not post photographs that are not suitable for teenagers. Facebook allows users to join at age thirteen (13) and RTPC allows photographers of all ages to join our events.

  • Parental warning: some photographs may not be suitable for pre-teenagers.

  • Sensitivity warning: some photographs may be inappropriate for members sensitive to particular photographs, genres, or phobias.

  • Please respect copyrights. We encourage you to share your photography with the group. Sharing of others’ photographs is only allowed through linking of the original photograph, which will ensure the original poster’s intent remains intact. There are two exceptions. In order to encourage children’s participation in photography, parents may post their children's photos for them if they don't have their own FB account. Second, members may post heirloom family photos that they own to further the discussion of past photographic/processing techniques. In both cases, it should be clearly stated who took the photo if that information is known.

  • Do not add members. Potential members are required to answer screening questions. If you know someone who might be interested, please give them a link to the group so they may request membership themselves.

The following is some helpful information on how we operate along with some useful links.

MEETUP GROUP: All of our meetings, photo walks and other events are scheduled through our Meetup group. If you are in the area and would like to participate in any of these activities, please join the Meetup group. You’ll have the option to be notified of new or changing events and have access to all the necessary details. Please note that due to changes in how Facebook handles events, we no longer create events in our FB group so timely details will no longer be available there.

RTPC WEBSITE: This site features photography and information on some of our most active members along with copies of the club’s magazine, Vignette.

EVENTS: There are several Event Coordinators who've volunteered to organize regular photo walks open to everyone. As stated above, you’ll need to join our Meetup group for details on each activity.

CHALLENGES: Often there are Challenges set up to encourage members to get out and shoot, to revisit their existing catalogs or to learn about processing, etc. These challenges will have varying parameters and deadlines and will be posted in the main feed.

ALBUMS: We set up Albums for Events and for some Challenges. Albums will contain a description and deadline for submitting your photos pertaining to that challenge or event.

FILES: Take a look through our Files section. It includes documents relating to how we operate, annual files of winners in our weekly photo contest, photography tips and other useful info.

FILM PHOTOGRAPHY: Members of RTPC that enjoy film photography can join the RTPC Film Only group where members encourage that pursuit through sharing their photographs from film and discussing their experience with the craft

4-SALE: There's a separate FB group for selling and swapping photographic equipment. Posting ads for sale is not allowed in the main group.
